The Hazel Park Promise Zone is committed to doing anything we can to assist Hazel Park students in preparing for postsecondary education and the careers that education will make possible. With this in mind, we offer the following program opportunities for Hazel Park students:
College advising program
Our college adviser works hard to assist each and every Hazel Park High School senior through the college exploration, admissions, and financial aid processes. The Promise Zone is thrilled to be able to provide this service to students and encourages students of all ages and their parents to reach out to our college adviser to begin planning for life after high school. Our current college adviser is Mr. Moussa Traore, who can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
UAW Chrysler School-to-Work program
This program offers an opportunity for students to become trained in various skilled trades. Hazel Park High School and Hazel Park Alternative High School students are invited to apply in the spring of their sophomore year for the program, which begins in the fall of a student's junior year and continues through high school graduation. Participating students spend each afternoon at the UAW Chrysler training center.
Hazel Park Career Fellowship program
The Hazel Park Career Fellowship Program offers paid summer internships to high school students. The application is released to students via email in late winter, with selections made in the spring. Fellows are also required to attend weekly professional development sessions throughout the summer, with provided topics including resume/cover letter development and job interviewing skills, among others.
